Starbucks how I crave thee!

So I'm sitting at work, bored and spacing out (one of them slow shifts today), and I start thinking, well more like wondering, why is there no Starbucks here in Ghana? Or any other really good coffee shops for that matter. Maybe I just haven't found any yet, but you would think there would be at least one or two really yummy coffee shops around, even if it were just in Accra. And I'm talking coffee shops that sell quality coffee, the kind of coffee that after sipping that first sip you sigh and say to yourself "Now that's coffee!". Coffee shops that not only sell great coffee, but also sell super yummy pastries and provide a relaxing atmosphere for you to sit and enjoy your hot cup of coffee while reading your Stephen King novel, or whatever else it is you people read. I mean, god knows people in Ghana need some good coffee to keep them going for the rest of the day. Don't get me wrong, Ghana has a lot of great places to eat; nice restaurants, fast food spots that sell good burgers and fries, chicken and rice, sodas and ice cream, so on and so on. But yet, no coffee shops. *raises eyebrow* Hmm...... Maybe it's time for lil' Miss Kitty to open up shop. What do you think? Coffee anyone?

  1. dats some fine writing skills dere. Smart of you to notice the dearth of coffee shops in ghana, but i dont tink ghana is alone on dat 1, yeah i tink its a west africa-wide issue, and it may be for gud reason. there generally isnt a coffee culture in west africa probly owing to the fact that coffee is best consumed hot and the weather in africa is also extremely hot, hence you find a proliferation of sodas and ice-cream parlours, cold beverages in general dominate the market. so my advice to the enterprising kitty is 'think cold'. a beer parlour will never come amiss here;)

  2. Haven't u heard of cold coffee? Like frappucinos and iced mochas. Real coffee shops don't just serve hot coffee you know, they serve iced coffee drinks as well, damn good ones I might add. And F.Y.I, Philippines has the exact same weather as Ghana, and there's a Starbucks coffee shop in almost every city with people buying coffee every freakin' day. Lol And yes, it may be hot in Africa, but if i'm not mistaken, most of the offices here are airconditioned (cold). ;) And if it's so hot in Africa, why do people still drink coffee/tea in the morning before going to work and some even during the day? So see, people still do need coffee regardless of what weather they may be having. Besides, a beer parlor is so common. Where's the originality in that man. ;)
